This is a hit - both of my sons (2 & 3yrs) love this toy. We experienced no problems with getting the battery cover off (use a philips head screwdriver), and the sound works perfectly.
We own a lot of Melissa & Doug toys and have yet to get anything sub-par. You can always call the 800 number if you need to.
For my wife and I, it's great to see the two boys play together with this toy - the older one showing the younger one how to match the pictures. We're VERY pleased.
